Excursions
Lake Baringo
Boating on Baringo is always pleasurable: we can arrange day excursions to one of the islands, visits to the hot springs and nesting colonies of goliath herons, bird-watching cruises around the shoreline, or sunset cruises for sun-downer drinks. You can watch hippo, crocodile, monitor lizards as well as many beautiful birds.
Boat rides: ( fully licensed operators, with professional guides and life-jackets: 7 people maximum, all excursions require minimum 2 people: Cancellation fees 40%)
Cost: Kshs 3,000 per hour
1 Hour: along the lakeshore spotting hippo, crocodile, African jacana, yellow-billed storks, squacco herons, spoon bills & Egyptian geese among many other species
2 Hours: As above, and further on to Parmalok island, having purchased some fish from our local fishermen who catch their fish from locally assembled wooden canoes made from balsawood. At Parmalok these fish will be thrown to the fish eagles, who will swoop down and catch them in mid-air! Have your camera ready…
3 Hours: As the two hours above, but with a tour around Ol Kokwa island as well, pausing at the hot sulphur springs. You will then continue past the colony of goliath herons and further chances to feed the fish eagles before passing the haunted devils island.
Cultural village visits
Pokot people have one of the most unique cultures in Kenya. In a rapidly modernizing country with over 42 tribes, the Pokot are amongst the few tribes who have remained unusually traditional. A visit to a homestead is a memorable and fascinating anthropological experience, with added entertainment from local village dancers.

Tugen Hills
A steep, winding tarmac-road takes you into a cool and lush forested area, providing a delightful contrast to the hot, rocky country you have left below. The Tugen hills are also home to Orrorin Tugenensis, which is the second oldest hominoid skull in the world. It was discovered in 2003 and archaeologists have dated it back 6 million years. There is a museum, perched on the edge of the hills, which is very informative. Visits to local, rural schools and traditional African markets, as well as a picnic, make it a memorable day out.
Island Camp
Transfers, lunch and time to lounge by the pool costs 1600ksh per adult and 800ksh per child. This trip is great value for money and extremely popular with our guests.
Masseuse
We have a resident masseur on site who can also do manicures and pedicures. Charges are 2000 ksh per hour for body massage and 650ksh for pedicures or manicures.
