Nature Walks A stroll out from camp along the lake shore, beyond into the scrub land, or up to the nearby cliffs with a local guide can be an immensely rewarding experience. There’s a huge variety of plant species, including some rare aloes, and medicinal herbs. Intriguing insects, small mammals, reptiles and birds, all living in their geologically remarkable habitat, offer you a memorable experience – with the addition of such a breathtaking setting. The cooler and thus more pleasant times for walking are early morning or late afternoon. (please note that all excursions are run by a community enterprise: we support them by recommending their excursions, but we are not liable) All excursions are done at your own risk. Bookings can be taken through the reception. This ensures business is distributed evenly between community members
Nature WalkTaking up to 3-hours your walk starts from the western part of the lake shore towards and finally into the cliffs where you’ll get a spectacular view of the lake and have the chance to see rock hyraxes. On the way you may well see snakes and scorpions, you will be shown different tree species, and told about their medicinal and cultural importance, as well as taught about the social and biological significance of termite mounds, the process of formation and group function.
